Strong winds in Zeeland last Thursday meant taking the challenge out and back on the Veerse Meer. A 5 Miles From Home Challenge first in our NL034 ‘Bakkie van Kortgene’ St Ayles Skiff!
A brutal headwind on attempt one, with a grey seal cheering us on. The wind eased on Friday so we went again: massively improving our time and matching our 2025 performance!
Conditions improved on Sunday morning, so our ladies team took the challenge on the open waters of the Oosterschelde National Park in our NL017 ‘Sealainn’ St Ayles Skiff, battling the waves and wind on the way out and on the return, for the true coastal rowing experience!
